Soulaan Coining
The term Soulaan, coined by Ty Lue, is a descriptor for black descendants of chattel slavery. We are most well known as African American, however, some Black Americans identify as African American despite not being Soulaan. This is why some people prefer Soulaan over African American.

Tutnese Language
Tutnese is a language loosely based off of English that was created around 250 years ago by African American slaves. On August 8th, 2021, it was rediscovered on Tiktok by Soulaans. In an attempt to revive it, a ton of misinformation spread and now there are thousands of people speaking made-up versions.
* In this context, Black Americans are not Soulaan/African American, they are black people from other parts of the diaspora who live in America!
